Tunisian Stadium Officially Protests Refereeing in Super Match
Monday 04-08-2025
The administrative body of the Tunisian Stadium Club issued an official statement expressing its deep dissatisfaction with the refereeing performance during the Tunisian Super match against Esperance Sportive, which ended with the latter winning the title, considering that the refereeing crew directly contributed to changing the outcome of the match.

The club confirmed in its statement that the match witnessed "catastrophic refereeing performance," in light of the absence of Video Assistant Referee (VAR), which contributed to committing "serious errors that affected the legitimacy of the title," according to the text of the statement.

The club's management criticized the appointment of a non-international referee to manage a decisive match like the Super, considering it an "incomprehensible insistence" from the National Refereeing Authority.

The body also mentioned that it had previously submitted an official protest due to similar refereeing errors and requested an official meeting with the general supervisor of refereeing, without receiving any response so far.

The body called on both the Tunisian Football Federation and the National Refereeing Authority to assume their responsibilities, presenting clear demands that included the following:

1. Avoid repeating severe refereeing errors in upcoming competitions.

2. Not to appoint any referee from the Super match crew to manage future matches of the Tunisian Stadium.

3. Provide VAR technology before the start of the new season of the national championship.

4. Establish a precise evaluation system for referees' performance, based on objective scoring and league ranking.

5. Take strict measures against referees responsible for changing match results, whether by suspension or removal.

At the end of the statement, the body called on all Tunisian clubs to take collective action to demand radical reforms of the refereeing system, ensuring sports justice, improving the level of competition, and enhancing the image of Tunisian football locally and continentally.
