Reports revealed today, Sunday, that the Spanish club Villarreal has expressed interest in signing Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey during the current summer transfer window.

Partey is a free agent after his contract with Arsenal ended at the end of last season, which facilitates the task of signing him without a fee, despite his high salary.

Villarreal's coach is looking to strengthen his team's midfield and has placed Partey at the top of his priority list, given his previous experience in La Liga, where he excelled with Atletico Madrid under the guidance of Diego Simeone.

Villarreal is expected to begin its moves in the coming days to expedite negotiations with the player.

It is worth noting that Partey is facing legal allegations in Britain, where he has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault by three women regarding incidents that occurred between 2021 and 2022, and he is scheduled to appear in court on August 5.
