The Public Prosecutor's Office in Algeria has ordered an urgent judicial investigation following the tragic incident that occurred at the 5 July Stadium during the match between CR Belouizdad and USM Alger, which resulted in the death of 4 fans and injuries to others with varying degrees of severity.

According to an official statement from the Public Prosecutor at the Bir Mourad Raïs Court in the Algerian capital, the investigation was opened based on "negligence and lack of precaution leading to death and bodily harm," in accordance with articles 288 and 289 of the Penal Code, aimed at determining responsibilities and holding accountable anyone found to be involved in the incident.

The tragic incident occurred during the celebrations of CR Belouizdad fans for their ninth title in the Algerian league, amidst a large crowd, when a part of the iron railing in the upper stands (sections 7 and 8) broke, causing a number of fans from the "Ultras" group known as "Love and Mentality," one of the prominent support groups for CR Belouizdad, to fall.

The incident resulted in the immediate death of 4 individuals, alongside several injuries.

The statement from the Public Prosecutor confirmed that legal actions will be taken rigorously against all involved, whether directly or indirectly, with a commitment to inform the public of the investigation's results in a timely manner.
