The Italian club Napoli announced through its official website today that it has officially signed Dutch defender Sam Boeckema, coming from Bologna, in a permanent transfer to strengthen the defense in preparation for the new season.

Boeckema is 26 years old, born in the Dutch city of Deventer in 1998, and stands 188 cm tall. He began his professional career with Go Ahead Eagles before moving to Alkmaar and then to Bologna, arriving at Napoli this summer.

The Dutch defender has played up to 185 matches in various leagues, scoring 15 goals, in addition to participating in 19 matches in domestic cups and 30 European matches. He is known for his defensive solidity and ability to win aerial duels and clearances, having been the player with the highest numbers in these areas for Bologna over the past two seasons.

Boeckema's addition comes as part of Napoli's plan to strengthen the squad with strong signings, after the player excelled with Bologna, participating in 80 matches over the last two seasons, and being one of the most effective defenders in terms of passing and ball movement in the Italian league, making him a strong addition to Napoli's defense.
