Attempts to Prevent Al-Hilal's Withdrawal from the Super Cup
The Saudi Football Federation is working to convince Al-Hilal to reverse its decision to withdraw from the Saudi Super Cup, due to the importance of its participation as a key pillar in the tournament.
It is noted that Al-Hilal has submitted an official apology for participating in the Super Cup, scheduled to be held in Hong Kong next August, due to the exhaustion the team is experiencing after its intensive participation in the recent FIFA Club World Cup.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Federation has not yet revealed a replacement for Al-Hilal in the Super Cup, and it has not been determined whether Al-Hilal would lose its match and Al-Qadisiyah would qualify directly for the final, or if Al-Ahli would be given the opportunity to play against Al-Qadisiyah in the semi-finals.
This is the first case of its kind, as no Saudi club has previously withdrawn from a tournament after the official schedule was issued since the competition began in 2012.
