Disciplinary Committee Issues Strict Decision Against Duhok Player
Monday 14-07-2025
In a decisive step that reflects the commitment of sports institutions to national values and ethical principles, the Disciplinary Committee of the Iraqi Football Association issued a decision to punish Duhok Club player Mohammed Said by banning him from playing for one year, along with imposing a fine of 15 million Iraqi dinars, due to a previous post he made on social media, which contained an insult that the committee considered "affecting the unity of the Iraqi national fabric."

An official statement issued by the committee stated that the penalty was imposed after "reviewing the post made by player Mohammed Said, and confirming its offensive content towards one of the essential components of Iraqi society, which represents a clear violation of the codes of conduct and discipline, and an infringement on the principle of mutual respect among the Iraqi people."

The committee emphasized that this decision reflects the policy of the Iraqi Football Association "to reject any form of sectarian discourse or racial discrimination or insults to any entity within Iraqi society," stressing that "stadiums must remain a space for national cohesion, not for division or sectarian incitement."

The committee's decision sent a clear message to all players, coaches, and administrators in clubs that personal behavior, especially through electronic platforms, will be subject to oversight and accountability, and that any violation of ethical values or breach of the principles of peaceful coexistence will be met with strict penalties, regardless of the player's name or the club he represents.

According to the decision, the penalty will take effect immediately and includes preventing the player from participating in any official or friendly match under the supervision of the Iraqi Football Association for one year, in addition to paying the financial fine within a specified period.

In conclusion, the committee confirmed that the decision is subject to appeal according to the regulations, but at the same time, it is "determined to hold accountable anyone who attempts to exploit their sports position to spread division or insult the unity of Iraq."
