Liverpool Meets with Jean-Philippe Mateta Ahead of Potential Signing
Monday 14-07-2025
Jean-Philippe Mateta, the Crystal Palace striker, and his representative held a meeting with Liverpool club officials in Paris in recent days, as a preliminary step to discuss the possibility of signing him during the ongoing summer transfer window.

Liverpool is looking to bolster their attack following the death of Diogo Jota and the impending departure of Darwin Nunez from the team, making Mateta one of the options considered to fill the gap in the striker position.

Mateta participated in 43 matches last season with Crystal Palace, scoring 17 goals and providing 4 assists, and he has a contract with his club until June 2027.

Liverpool recently signed the duo Jeremy Frimpong and Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, while Newcastle striker Alexander Isak remains one of the prominent names linked with a move to the Reds.

On the other hand, Darwin Nunez's transfer to Italian club Napoli is still facing a financial hurdle, as Liverpool is demanding 75 million euros to part with the player, while Napoli has only offered 43 million euros.
