Swedish striker Viktor Gyökeres, star of Sporting Lisbon, is close to joining Arsenal during the current summer transfer window, in preparation for the 2025/2026 season, according to media reports.

In recent days, there have been intense negotiations between Arsenal and the Portuguese club for the 27-year-old player, but they initially stalled due to Sporting's financial demands, with the Gunners offering €65 million plus additional incentives, while Sporting insisted on receiving €80 million alongside the add-ons.

The crisis caused Gyökeres to miss his team's training last Saturday, which angered Sporting's president, Frederico Varandas, who criticized the player and threatened him with financial penalties.

According to journalist David Ornstein, negotiations have entered their final stages, and the deal is expected to be completed this week, with the Swedish international set to sign a 5-year contract with Arsenal.

Reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano also indicated via his official account on the X platform that Arsenal is now ready to pay €70 million as a fixed fee, with €10 million as variables, as Sporting Lisbon desires.

It is worth noting that Gyökeres had an exceptional season with Sporting Lisbon, where he played 52 matches, scoring 54 goals and providing 13 assists.
