A Mysterious Summer Surrounds Laporte's Future with Al-Nassr
Saturday 05-07-2025
The Spanish defender Aymeric Laporte is experiencing a summer filled with uncertainty as the new season approaches, amid stalled attempts to leave Saudi club Al-Nassr, which he joined two years ago from Manchester City.

At the beginning of his journey with "Al-Alami", Laporte played 39 matches, scoring 4 goals and providing 1 assist, showcasing strong performances that were well-received by fans. However, the relationship between the two parties began to deteriorate gradually, with clear indications of Al-Nassr's management's desire to part ways with him during the summer transfer window.

Despite Real Madrid's interest in signing him to replace Nacho, negotiations quickly stalled due to the Merengue management's refusal to pay any financial compensation, which was rejected by Al-Nassr. Additionally, Olympique Marseille entered the fray, with sporting director Mehdi Benatia confirming that Laporte was a target in January, but the deal faltered for economic reasons despite the player's desire to leave.

According to Cadena SER, interest remains from several European clubs, notably Arsenal and Aston Villa in England, Napoli in Italy, Fenerbahce in Turkey, and Athletic Bilbao in Spain. However, so far, no official offers have reached Al-Nassr's management, which denied any ongoing negotiations regarding the player, although it is prepared to consider any serious offer to sell his contract.

According to the same reports, Laporte currently has two potential options to return to La Liga: either convince Athletic Bilbao to make an official offer or wait for Cristian Romero's situation with Atletico Madrid, as Laporte could become a backup option if the deal falls through.

Until now, the future of the Spanish defender remains uncertain, amidst a slow-moving transfer market, financial complications, and negotiation maneuvers adding further ambiguity to his fate with Al-Nassr.
