
Officially: Abdel Salam Wado Appointed as Head Coach of Orlando Pirates
The South African club Orlando Pirates announced the appointment of Moroccan Abdel Salam Wado as the head coach of the first team, succeeding the Spaniard José Ribeiro, who left to take over the coaching position at Al Ahly SC in Egypt.
The club confirmed in an official statement that Wado will begin his duties with the team before the start of the new season, without disclosing the duration of the contract, indicating that the Moroccan coach is expected to arrive in South Africa by the end of this week.
Wado will lead the coaching staff with the assistance of Mandla Ncikazi, Ryan Jacobson, Helmi Gilditch, and Tyron Damons.
Abdel Salam Wado is 46 years old, born in the city of Nef in Morocco, and possesses extensive experience as a former international player having played 68 matches with the Moroccan national team, in addition to his professional career in several major European leagues, and his experience working as a tactical coach.
Orlando Pirates noted that Wado has a deep understanding of the game and a strong leadership personality, making him qualified to lead the team into a new phase, with preparations for the new season officially starting on June 27.
