Mattia Perin Misses FIFA Club World Cup
Mattia Perin, the goalkeeper for Italian club Juventus, will miss the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup scheduled to take place in the United States during June and July, after undergoing surgery on his right hand.
Juventus announced on its official website that Perin underwent successful surgery to stabilize the proximal interphalangeal joint of the fifth finger on his right hand, due to an injury from post-traumatic arthritis resulting from a chronic dislocation.
The Italian goalkeeper is expected to be sidelined for eight weeks, which means he will miss participation in the highly anticipated global tournament.
Perin is the second-choice goalkeeper for Juventus, behind Michele Di Gregorio, and has played in 9 official matches this season, including 5 in Serie A, 3 in the UEFA Champions League, and one in the Coppa Italia.
Since joining Juventus from Genoa in 2018, Perin has played 56 matches with the team, successfully keeping a clean sheet on 25 occasions.
