Al-Harifi Urges Ronaldo to Retire to Preserve His Legacy
Fahd Al-Harifi, the former Al-Nassr star, urged Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of Al-Nassr, to retire in order to preserve his legacy.
Ronaldo wasted several easy opportunities in his team's match yesterday, Wednesday, against Al-Khaleej in the 33rd round of the Roshan Saudi League, which ended with Al-Nassr winning 2-0.
Al-Harifi said in television statements: "Cristiano, after scoring the goal, showed a different personality than he did before hitting the net. After scoring the penalty in the last seconds, he started smiling, greeting the fans, and interacting with the rest of the team. This did not happen before the goal, which means that the player is only thinking about his numbers and does not care about the group."
He continued: "Al-Nassr did not sign Cristiano to become the league's top scorer and set historical records. Despite these numbers, he has contributed to the team losing many points due to wasting numerous easy chances."
He added: "I am a fan of the Don, but I advise him to retire and think about preserving the great treasure he has achieved in his life, as his body can no longer execute what his mind demands."
He clarified: "Ronaldo is a legendary player with record numbers, and we are happy to see him score goals, but some behaviors we see, like acting, going to greet officials, and apologizing to fans, do not suit him and do not reflect his true character."
He concluded: "He needs to reflect on himself and take responsibility for his shortcomings. Age has its rules, and there were opportunities he should have exploited better. Also, his repeated dissatisfaction with his teammates is unacceptable; we need to think about the interests of the team as a whole, not just a player who is only looking to break personal records."
