Diyala Player: We Played Organised Against Al-Zawraa and Deserved a Better Result
Diyala Club player Mohamed Mohsen expressed his dissatisfaction with the heavy loss his team suffered against Al-Zawraa with a last-minute goal in the 97th minute, affirming that his team showed a fighting spirit throughout the match and was closer to achieving a positive result were it not for some small details that turned the match in the final moments.
He said: "Today we delivered a great performance defensively, Al-Zawraa pressed but we were organised, and all the players performed their duties with sacrifice and fight, which is why we were hoping at least to come away with a point."
He continued: "We played against a great team and a large crowd, yet we were not afraid, we stood strong and were focused until the last moment, but unfortunately, one ball in the 97th minute changed everything."
He added: "The goal they scored does not diminish what we presented, but honestly, we feel wronged, there was a clear penalty for us after a foul with the elbow on one of our players, but the referee ignored the situation, and this affected us."
He increased: "Every match we play is like a final, and we try to show a performance worthy of Diyala, the fans deserve the best from us, and so we will continue to play with all we have until the last moment of the league."
He continued: "Despite the loss, we hold our heads high, and we will come back stronger in the upcoming matches because the team has a high spirit and a group of fighting players."
