European Competition for Leeds United Star
It seems that Leeds United's left-back, Junior Firpo, is on his way to leaving the team during the upcoming summer transfer window, amid strong interest from major European clubs, primarily AC Milan and Real Betis.
Firpo, 28 years old, contributed to Leeds' promotion to the Premier League after winning the Championship title this season, but his contract ends on June 30, and no extension has been announced, making him a candidate to leave for free.
According to media reports, AC Milan is monitoring Firpo's situation in preparation for signing him should their first-choice left-back Theo Hernandez leave, while his former club Real Betis is also looking to bring him back. Additionally, English clubs such as Everton, Crystal Palace, and West Ham United have expressed interest in signing him.
It is worth noting that Firpo began his professional career with Real Betis before moving to Barcelona in 2019, and then to Leeds in 2021 for 15 million euros. Although Barcelona retains 25% of the sale value, his potential free departure would deprive the Catalan club of any financial return.
