Saad Karim Criticizes Refereeing and Talks About Suspicions of Match Fixing
Sunday 27-04-2025
Saad Karim, supervisor of the Basra Oil team, expressed his deep dissatisfaction with what he described as cases of manipulation in some matches of the Iraqi Premier League, asserting that his club will not stand idly by and will take legal measures to defend its rights, while simultaneously directing sharp criticisms at the refereeing crew.

He said: "We feel wronged by what happens in some matches, there are clear cases of manipulation of results that have directly affected our team's performance this season, and we will not remain silent about our rights."

He added: "We have decided to take all official measures and will pursue legal avenues to file objections and uncover everything happening behind the scenes that affects the integrity of the competition."

He continued: "What exacerbated the situation is the poor performance of some referees, led by referee Salem Amer, who always deliberately provokes our players and creates problems during the matches he officiates."

He further stated: "It is unacceptable for refereeing to be a source of tension on the field; the referee should be a calming element, not the opposite, and what has happened is unacceptable, and we will demand an official stance regarding these behaviors."

He concluded his remarks: "We respect all sports institutions and believe in the spirit of fair competition, but we, on the other hand, reject injustice and will continue to defend the Basra Oil Club by all available means."
