Biserro Reveals Reasons for Zamalek's Failure to Qualify for the Quarterfinals of the Cairo Cup
Wednesday 16-04-2025
José Biserro spoke about the reasons for Zamalek's failure to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Cairo Cup.

Zamalek won against Smoha today, Wednesday, with a score of 1-0 in a match within the fifth round of the tournament, but despite this, the team failed to qualify.

Biserro said in the press conference after the match: "It is unfair for the team to play two matches in less than 72 hours; also, changing the match schedule and holding it at a different time than previous matches affected the players and the coaching staff."

He added: "I felt the players' fatigue due to the pressure of matches, and it would have been possible to play the match tomorrow to give the team some rest. The matters should be considered by those responsible for Egyptian football."

He continued: "There are players who played the full match against Haras El Hodood and performed well today, such as Salah Mosadak, Mohamed Shahat, and Mahmoud Bentayek, and the players need a longer rest."

He emphasized: "I feel disappointed, of course, because we won by a single goal and couldn't score the second goal that would have secured our qualification for the next round."

He concluded: "In general, Zamalek deserved to score more goals, and we tried to apply pressure in the final part of the match, but the opponent was playing on counter-attacks, and we were the better team in the match."
