Reports have revealed that Olympique Marseille is close to activating the purchase clause for Algerian star Ismael Bennacer from AC Milan on a permanent basis, following the end of his loan period at the conclusion of the current season.

Bennacer, 27, joined Marseille on loan last January for a fee of one million euros, with an option for a permanent purchase valued at 12 million euros. Since his transfer, the Algerian midfielder has firmly established himself in coach Roberto De Zerbi's lineup.

Bennacer has participated in 8 out of 9 possible matches in Ligue 1, including 6 as a starter.

According to 'Calcio Mercato', Bennacer's continuation is strongly supported by coach De Zerbi and sporting director Mehdi Benatia, which brings the final purchase step closer. However, reports have warned that De Zerbi's potential departure at the end of the season due to conflicts with management could negatively impact the deal's finalization.

Meanwhile, AC Milan is awaiting Marseille's final position before the end of the loan period, especially given their dissatisfaction with the pressures exerted by the Algerian player in the final moments of the winter transfer window to leave the team.
