Real Madrid suffered a heavy defeat against their guests Arsenal (3-0) in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, at the Emirates Stadium, knowing that the return match will be held next week at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The first half of the match was quiet with a lot of caution between the two teams, with a slight advantage for Arsenal, as they nearly scored a goal after a cross from Saka from a corner that accidentally hit Saliba, saving Real Madrid from a certain goal in the 6th minute.

In the second half, a ball reached Mbappé who shot from inside the penalty area, but it hit the outside of the net in the 50th minute. After that, Asensio cleared a dangerous ball from in front of Rice in the 55th minute.

In the 57th minute, Arsenal took the lead through Declan Rice, with a wonderful shot from a direct free kick that found the back of Courtois' net. Arsenal missed a second goal when Martinelli shot the ball that was saved by Courtois, then Merino followed up with a shot that was cleared by Alaba, and then he shot again but Courtois saved it.

Rice nearly scored a second goal with a shot from inside the penalty area that was cleared by Bellingham off the goal line. In the 69th minute, Declan Rice scored a second goal with a stunning shot from a direct free kick that Courtois failed to deal with.

In the 75th minute, Mikel Merino scored a third goal for Arsenal, with a shot from inside the penalty area after a cross from Skelly. Camavinga was sent off in the 90+4 minute with a second yellow card, ending the match with a victory for the Gunners.
