Implementation of a New Technology in the English Premier League
The English Premier League announced in an official statement on its website the implementation of a new technology in the Premier League starting from Matchday 32.
The statement read: "The English Premier League will launch the semi-automated offside technology on Saturday, April 12 (Matchday 32) after it has been tested indirectly in the Premier League, and it has been directly adopted in the FA Cup this season."
It added: "The semi-automated offside technology will provide a more efficient position for the virtual offside line, based on the visual tracking of players, and produces virtual graphics to ensure an enhanced experience inside the stadium and its live broadcast to the fans."
Furthermore, it stated: "The operation of the semi-automated offside technology does not change the accuracy of decision-making, but enhances the speed, efficiency, and consistency of the process."
Finally, it concluded: "The system uses up to 30 newly installed cameras throughout the English Premier League."
