Pinto: I Expected to Go to Europe
The Brazilian international Pinto Matheus, goalkeeper for Al Nassr, revealed that he expected to go to Europe, but circumstances changed, and he ultimately decided to move to the Roshen League.
Pinto said: "I surprised a lot of people by going to Saudi Arabia; no one expected this step from me. I spoke with people from the Brazilian national team, and that helped me make this decision. I asked them if my transfer would distance me from the national team? They said no."
The Brazilian goalkeeper added: "This made it easier for me. The level has risen significantly in Saudi Arabia, and young players are emerging there. There has been substantial growth, and a first wave of stars has arrived."
He continued: "I believe there is a bit of bias against football in Saudi Arabia. Just look at who plays there; my team is well-known, and I don't even need to talk about it."
He concluded his statements: "My level remains the same, and I continue to develop. I can demonstrate this on the field, and I will do my utmost to prove that."
