Scaloni: We Are Not Affected by Absences, and We Do Not Think About the World Cup
Lionel Scaloni, the coach of the Argentine national team, appeared in a press statement after the 1-0 victory over Uruguay in the 13th round of the South American qualifiers for the World Cup.
Scaloni said in a press conference: "They caused us some trouble on the right side, but in the second half, we corrected that, and the match became different."
He added: "I was satisfied, not just because we won, but because of the way the team sacrificed. The team played a complete match and absorbed the pressure from the fans. When they had to play, they played, and when they had to score, they also played."
He increased: "The national team is a team. When a player is absent, another substitute takes their place. We have suffered significant absences, but we have great players ready to step onto the field."
He emphasized: "The team is always above the names. Thiago (Almada) scored a wonderful goal; he is developing a lot and playing the way the team wants. That is the most important thing."
He continued: "We have to endure anything that comes and know how to exploit the moments. This team knows how to take advantage of them, and fortunately, we can play with new players, and the national team will not suffer."
He added: "De Paul will be ready for the match against Brazil in the next game."
He concluded: "When we play these matches, the World Cup does not cross our minds; we do not think beyond what we are playing. If we secure our qualification on Tuesday, we will be very happy, but we are playing each match separately."
