Kiyal: The Competitions Committee Must Support Saudi Clubs
Tuesday 18-03-2025
Tariq Kiyal, the general supervisor of the Saudi national team and former Al-Ahli Jeddah official, stated that the Competitions Committee is working against the interests of Saudi clubs in the elite AFC Champions League.

The clubs Al-Nassr, Al-Hilal, and Al-Ahli will compete in the quarter-finals of the elite AFC Champions League on April 25 and 26, just a few days after the matches of Round 29 of the Saudi league, scheduled for the 22nd of the same month.

Kiyal said during the "Kora" program on Rotana Khalejia Channel: "Saudi Arabia has done everything required to ensure a distinguished organization for the final stages of the Asian elite championship."

He added: "All teams in the final stage are good, and the one that makes fewer mistakes will achieve victory."

He continued: "For the first time, we see a Competitions Committee working against its own teams. We have three Saudi clubs in the final stage of the Asian championship and they are exposed to the pressure of matches and injuries."

He further stated: "Therefore, the Competitions Committee must provide assistance to the Saudi teams participating in the Asian championship and postpone their league matches."

He concluded: "The Asian Football Confederation is still working randomly; it chose an incomprehensible system for the draw, and the system should have been clear to everyone before the start of the tournament."
