Conte: Happy with the victory, and we are in a real title race
Following Napoli's important 1-0 victory over Monza, which put them level with Inter Milan at the top of the Serie A table, the team's coach, Antonio Conte, spoke about his feelings after the match and touched on several important aspects in his statements.
Conte said: "We tried to control the match using a double play strategy, but we couldn't attack strongly in the penalty area. In the second half, we adjusted the plan by bringing in Anguissa and Raspadori, and the change was positive."
He added: "On paper, matches may seem easy, but the pressure was high. This is our players' first challenge in the title race, and it’s wonderful to be part of this unexpected contest."
He continued: "Being in this position is certainly unexpected and fantastic for what we are doing; it’s an honor for these players, and I am happy that we are bothering everyone in the title race."
Conte went on: "I have adapted well in Naples, and my family has too. The Napoli fans make me feel like I am part of the team, which is priceless. We need to live in the present, and I feel a lot of openness and ambition from everyone here."
He concluded his statements by saying: "When Conte is hired, everyone expects you to be in first or second place; it’s not enough just to compete for European qualification. If the necessary means are not available, I will not accept anything less than that."
