Koller Talks About the Draw Against Sundowns
Marcel Koller, the coach of Al Ahly, confirmed that the draw against South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns is a good result.
The first leg of the CAF Champions League semi-final match between Al Ahly and Sundowns ended in a goalless draw 0-0.
Koller said in the press conference after the match: "I am happy that we came out of the match without conceding a goal. A goalless draw is considered a good result for us at this stage, and we were capable of winning and scoring a goal."
He added: "The team's performance was good today, as we were excellently organized on the field and created many opportunities. Although there were goals that were disallowed, that wasn't enough to secure a win. But overall, a goalless draw is not a bad result."
He continued that the return leg in Cairo will be difficult and there must be complete focus.
He added: "Sundowns has outstanding players and is one of the strongest teams in Africa, and they had possession of the ball for most of the match more than Al Ahly. But it's not important to keep possession; what's important is what you do with it, and whether you will score or not."
He continued: "Al Ahly did not have much possession, but we created several chances in the little time we had the ball, which was more than Sundowns. The team's excellent organization did not allow Sundowns to reach Al Ahly's goal."
He concluded: "We hope to achieve victory in the return match in Cairo and qualify for the final. We must be ready for this important encounter."
