The journalist Ahmed Schubert defended Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Awad after the attack the player was subjected to following Zamalek's draw yesterday against Enyimba.

The match between Zamalek and Enyimba yesterday, Sunday, in the second round of the African Confederation Cup, ended in a 2-2 draw.

Schubert said in radio statements: “The truth is at the end of the first half, and from an unnecessary mistake by Mohamed Awad, and his luck was bad, Enyimba scored his first goal, and Awad was in a hurry to get up.” From his goal and he did not have to come out because the Enyimba striker had two defenders with him.”

He continued: "A case of violent criticism of Awad after the goal. Guys, what is wrong with Zamalek? They won 2-1 and could have won this, and we were all in the past, and it was going to bring us a more brutal season than this million." Once, until when will we remain like this, Awad’s saying was a monster, but what a lot of gloating and how much nonsense.”

He added: "What happened and this method is shameful and unnecessary."
