Mariska: We are not in the title race, we are focusing on that

Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca appeared in a press conference, to talk about Sunday’s confrontation against Aston Villa, in the 13th round of the English Premier League.

The coach said: “ Do the players feel that they are in the title race this season? The players are focused on working and improving day after day, because if they do that, we will win the matches.”

He added: It is good that We see the team improving. It's important, it feels good, at the same time, you have to be realistic. You can see the difference between us and the rest of the teams at this moment. This doesn't mean we won't compete and win games. We will do this until the end.”

He stressed: “The main focus must be on feeling that we are improving match after match.”

He continued: “Are you in the race for the title? no. I've said that many times. I didn't like the pressure. I didn't like to say, yes, we are there, but we are not there. Arsenal is ahead of us, Manchester City is ahead of us, and Liverpool appears to be ahead of us. The important thing is that we improve match after match and then we will see.”

He continued: “Are you waiting on the standings and the conditions of the other teams? You think City have lost three games in a row but are still in second place. Arsenal is there. Liverpool are doing great. For me, the reason is not the points or the table, but rather the process and the programme.”

He concluded: “There are teams that have been playing together for five years (Arsenal), and there are teams that have been playing together for five years. "Together for nine years (City), Liverpool is different but they haven't made a lot of changes from before. It's not about the difference in points in the table, it's about the time they spent together."
