Ahmed Schubert, the former Al-Ahly star, commented on the news that circulated regarding Muhammad Awad and Mahdi Suleiman’s refusal to warm up after Hossam Hassan’s announcement. The national team coach appointed Mustafa Schubert as a starting goalkeeper in the match with Botswana.
Schubert said during a video he posted on Facebook: “It is with great regret and sorrow that a rumor appeared that Awad and Al-Mahdi refused to warm up with Mustafa Schubert, before the Botswana match, but it was not real at all, and the Egyptian national team’s media center did well when they published a photo of the warm-up.
He added: “Hossam Hassan, the director The technician for the national team came out and spoke well about the trio, and not everything, guys, is overturned by my family and Zamalek. Al-Ahly and Zamalek are not in a conflict, Al-Ahly and Zamalek are in a competition for local championships. Why do you make it a conflict, and this is the Egyptian national team? We must control our minds.”
He concluded: "You are creating a fight for him and creating a crisis for him. When Awad plays, we are supposed to encourage him, and if Al-Mahdi plays, we encourage him, just as Mohamed Sobhi played in the nations of Africa when he was young at the time and we all supported him."
