Imam Ashour denies evading the national team

Imam Ashour, the Al-Ahly midfielder, responded to rumors about him deliberately getting injured so as not to join the Egyptian national team camp under the leadership of Hossam Hassan.

Imam Ashour said in his statements on Al-Ahly Club channel: “It is not reasonable for me to claim injury in order not to join the Egyptian national team. I followed the rumors with astonishment because there are other players who have suffered injuries.” They were not called up to the national team.”

He added: “Why talk about me specifically? When I was injured in a previous camp, the coach allowed me to leave when he was sure that I was actually injured.”

He continued: “How did the coach allow me to leave the camp when he was not sure that I was injured? If that were true, the technical staff would have stated it directly to the media.”

He continued: “Any player would like to wear the Egypt national team shirt, and during the period of the former coach Vitoria, I did not participate as a starter, but in The last African Nations Championship with him, I insisted on participating despite my severe head injury, and I asked to write a personal pledge.”
