Liverpool coach Arne Sloat appeared in press statements after the 4-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.

The coach said: “I don’t know if It was related to the intensity, but we took more risks. They tired our midfield a lot, we adjusted the midfield and we risked playing one-on-one everywhere. We had better chances in the first half and they were not a goal threat.”

He added: “Sometimes a strong striker is better than someone a little faster. Curtis Jones made an unbelievable pass and then you have someone with the speed of Luis Diaz to finish it off. The pass was as good as the goal in my opinion.”

He continued: “We are playing one match at a time. We have another difficult match against Aston Villa on Saturday.”

On Van Dijk: “Virgil is sometimes criticized for not being in the midfield. Now I advise these people to watch this match today because he was always up front.”

On Kelleher's future: “This is in the future. Jaros is doing well and we have another goalkeeper as well. What I like about the game is that we needed him with only five minutes left. Our defense is difficult to break down but sometimes they play through pressure. I like the players' work rate."
