Ruben Amorim, coach of Sporting Lisbon, raised controversy regarding his move to the English Premier League in order to take over the duties of Manchester United, succeeding Dutchman Eric Ten Hag.

He had announced Manchester United dismissed Dutch coach Eric Ten Hag last Monday due to poor results with the team, despite giving him many opportunities to improve the Red Devils' course.

Amorim spoke in statements following Sporting Lisbon's 3-1 victory over Nacional in the Portuguese League Cup, and said: "I have nothing to say now. We are studying everything."

He added: “Anything I say now will only create more noise. There is nothing to talk about. There is the club’s statement. Everyone knows it. As for the rest, we do not know the exact details. We will see.”

He ended his speech by saying: “There is an intention on the part of Manchester United and it is conducting negotiations with Sporting Lisbon, but the decision will always remain my decision. What I know well is that I will train my team tomorrow for the Estrella Amadora match on Friday.”
