Guardiola: This is the case of De Bruyne and Akanji, and I want to coach one of the national teams
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola appeared in a press conference, to talk about Sunday’s confrontation against Wolverhampton in the eighth round of the English Premier League.
The coach said: “D. Bruin is not ready and has no chance of being present on Sunday. Akanji had a rest today. We will see how he feels tomorrow. We will know exactly his position tomorrow.”
He added: “Wolverhampton.” They got fewer points than they deserved. That's all I can see. Facing Wolverhampton is always difficult.”
He continued: “Have the English Federation contacted you to coach the national team? Thomas Tuchel is the current coach of the national team. I must congratulate him and the English Football Association. It is a great job. After nine years here, I wish him all the best.
And he continued: “Do you?” Should the England coach be English? We do not decide where we are born. Mom and Dad decided on it and nine months later here we are. I didn't decide to be Catalan, you don't decide to be English. It is the federation that decides a foreign coach with a great record. My point is that I will support him unconditionally. “If he wins he will be praised and if he loses he will be criticized. But it doesn't matter what nationality he is, I know we are proud of where we are from, but the world is very big. You have to be open-minded.
He concluded: “Txiki Begiristain left at the end of the season? Part of me is leaving. A friend of mine, an architect who created one of the best teams in Barcelona and here. Personally I will miss him a lot, he kept me balanced in this job. I'm very energetic and when we lose I want to destroy everything and he always tells me to take a break."
