The Asian Football Confederation has decided to move the match between Al-Nasr and its host Esteghlal in the AFC Champions League Elite Championship, outside Iran to neutral ground.

The AFC informed its Iranian counterpart of the decision to move the Esteghlal and Al-Nasr match to a neutral ground, while giving the host team the right to choose the alternative venue.

Al-Nasr Club had requested that the team’s match with Esteghlal, which will be held on October 22, be moved to another location due to security tensions in Iran.

The decision issued came after intense communications by Yasser Al-Meshal, President of the Saudi Football Association and the Asian Football Confederation, to transfer any matches played by Saudi clubs in Iran to neutral venues if the current circumstances continue.

According to reports, there is a preference for holding the Al-Nasr and Al-Estiqlal match, in Qatar, the Emirates, or Oman.
