A referee denies Al-Ahly’s right to receive a penalty kick
Many arbitration experts have confirmed in the past few days that Al-Ahly Saudi Club is entitled to a penalty kick against Al-Hilal during a match. Last Saturday in the sixth round of the Roshan League.
Al-Ahly defender Ali Majrashi had fallen inside the Al-Hilal penalty area in the last minutes of the match after being run over by leader Renan Lodi's player.
But 48 hours later, Egyptian referee Jihad Greisha made a surprising statement via the Saudi newspaper Al-Youm, where he said: “Al-Ahly did not deserve a penalty kick against Al-Hilal, as the decision was correct.”
He added: "The collision was unintentional. It happened by chance, so the referee decided not to award a penalty kick and play continued normally."
