Salem: Zamalek did not think about changing Gomez, and we do not need defenders
Ahmed Salem, the official spokesman for Zamalek Club, responded to reports that there is thinking within the club’s board of directors, headed by Hussein Labib, about dismissing Portuguese coach Jose Gomez.
Gomez succeeded in leading the White Knight to victory yesterday over Kenyan Police in the first leg of the round of 32 of the African Confederation Championship this season, with a clean goal.
Salem stated that Gomez does not see a problem in the team’s defense and that he has good players in this position.

Zamalek’s spokesman explained that the left-back position changed because of what happened to Ahmed Fattouh, so a primary left-back and a reserve were contracted.
He said that the club negotiated with A number of defenders, and that negotiations are continuing in more than one direction because the registration is open.
Salem indicated that Zamalek informed Gomez that the goal in the new season is to compete for all the championships. And the coach knows the value of the club.
The spokesman confirmed that the board of directors had not thought about changing Gomez since he took over, and that renewing the coach’s contract was contingent on winning the Confederation Cup, and he succeeded in doing so.
