Mancini: I had nothing to do with the negotiations between Saud and Rome, and I was only consulted
Italian Roberto Mancini, coach of the Saudi national team, revealed the nature of his role in the professionalism of right-back Saud Abdul Hamid in the ranks of Roma Club, during the summer transfer period.
Press reports stated that Mancini recommended that Roma club sign Abdul Hamid after his brilliance in the shirt of the Saudi national team and Al Hilal in the recent period.
Mancini said in his statements at the introductory press conference for the match between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia, today, Wednesday: “I have no role in Saud Abdul Hamid’s professionalism in the Italian League, and I have no involvement in the negotiations.”
Mancini indicated that Saud Abdul Hamid had spoken to him about his professional move to the Roma Club, and advised him to move.
He added: “De Rossi, the Roma coach, asked me about Saud Abdul Hamid and I told him that he is a good player, especially from a physical standpoint.”
He continued: “He is capable of Playing in Europe, but we must not forget that he must develop there, a new system in training and different countries.”
He continued: “The professionalism of the Saudi player is a good thing in order for us to reach the level of Japan.” And Australia and Korea, we must have enough players in Europe.”
