Serbia national team coach Dragan Stojkovic spoke about the reason why Saudi Al Hilal duo Sergej Savic and Aleksandar Mitrovic did not join the Serbian national team camp.

The Serbian national team is currently preparing to play the matches between Spain and Denmark in the European Nations League competitions.

Stojkovic said in a statement published by the Serbian Federation Football yesterday, Thursday: “Mitrovic and Savic play all the time at Al Hilal, and because of the injuries, the two players called and we talked. I understand everything... They want to use the time to treat and recover.”

He continued: "Since we are exposed to various speculations on this subject, I would like to emphasize that there is no room for something like this. There will be a press conference next Monday, in which we will discuss many topics in more detail, as well as our goals in the Nations League, but above all, preparing for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
