Castro: Brozovic did not deserve to be sent off
Al-Nasr coach Luis Castro criticized the decision to expel midfielder Marcelo Brozovic in the last minutes of the team's match against Al-Taawoun in the Saudi Super Cup semi-finals.
Al-Nasr qualified to face Al-Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup final after winning over Al-Taawoun with two clean goals, scored by Ayman Yahya and Cristiano Ronaldo.
In his statements after the end of the match, Castro confirmed that he was not convinced by Brozovic’s expulsion, noting at the same time the need to be calm and have positive energy before facing Al Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup final.
Castro said: “I did not want Brozovic to receive a red card. The player did not commit any violation that required that. In the 93rd minute we were ahead by two clean goals.”
The Al-Nasr coach added: “The situation did not require that from the referees. The referee was successful in the yellow card, but he was not successful in the expulsion decision.”
