Tenerife have activated an urgent protocol to provide specialized psychological support to their first-team players, coaching staff, and their families following the tragic death of Jesús de Miguel, who passed away after a violent collision during the match against Andorra in the Spanish Segunda División.

The incident, which occurred on the pitch at Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium, has left a significant psychological impact on the team's dressing room, as the players witnessed the event and followed the subsequent developments until the announcement of their teammate's death at the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital.

Club president Felipe Minambres has confirmed that players and their wives will need specialized psychological support in the coming period, noting that the club has already begun providing this support and will continue to do so in collaboration with the team's fans.

Minambres said: "We know that players and players' wives will need help, and we have started providing it from today, and we will continue to do so, and we will need the help of specialists, as well as the support of all our fans."

The psychological support will not be limited to players and coaching staff, but will also extend to their spouses and close family members, given the significant psychological impact left by the tragedy. The club has decided to cancel training sessions and prioritize the mental health of team members, putting it above current sporting commitments.

The president of Tenerife added that what happened represents an extraordinary tragedy that the world of football has never witnessed before, stating: "For global football, this is a situation we have never seen before, for a player to pass away on the pitch."

Minambres concluded his remarks by emphasizing the need to honor the late player in the way he deserves, adding: "We must give him the tribute he deserves, and we will always carry him in our hearts. It was an incredible situation and a great tragedy."
