Sami Al-Jaber, the former star of the Saudi national team, has sparked controversy with a sarcastic comment regarding the pressure of matches for Al-Hilal during the 2026-2027 season, suggesting that the team's bus driver is the one most affected by fatigue.

Al-Jaber's comments came during his appearance on MBC's program "Nadina" following Al-Hilal's 3-1 loss to Al-Shamal in the third round of the western region league in the AFC Champions League Elite.

Al-Hilal have suffered their second defeat of the season, ending their unbeaten streak in the league and group stages of the AFC Champions League Elite, which had stretched to 24 matches.

Al-Hilal faced Al-Shamal without four foreign players: Crysencio Summerville, Sergej Milinković-Savić, Gabriel Martinelli, and Rúben Neves.

Despite the defeat, Al-Hilal sits fifth in the current AFC Champions League Elite standings with six points, collected from two wins and one loss.
