Al-Karamah condemns the insult to martyr Abdul Basit Sarout and demands an urgent investigation
Al-Karamah's management and fans have strongly condemned the insults and abuses directed at the martyr Abdul Basit Sarout by some fans of Al-Wahda. Sarout is one of the symbols of the Syrian revolution, who gave his life for the freedom of Syria and the dignity of its people.
The club confirmed in an official statement that the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Syria and Al-Karamah deserve loyalty and honor, not disrespect. It emphasized that sporting differences do not justify the disrespect towards the symbols of the nation and its martyrs, whose sacrifices will remain present in the hearts and national memory of the Syrians.
Al-Karamah has called on the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Basketball Federation, and relevant authorities to open an urgent investigation into the incident, identify those responsible, and take punitive measures against them in accordance with the applicable laws, ensuring that such violations do not recur.
The club concluded its statement by affirming that the dignity of the martyrs is a red line, and that respecting their sacrifices is a national and moral responsibility that cannot be compromised, stating: "Mercy for the martyrs of Syria, loyalty to their sacrifices, and dignity is a constant approach and position."
