Manchester United target AS Roma full-back
Manchester United are planning to make a strong move in the winter transfer market, targeting Brazilian Wesley from AS Roma to strengthen their left-back position, despite him being right-footed, according to TEAMtalk.
The BBC reported that Manchester United now sees its decision not to sign a left-back or forward last summer as a mistake, after failing to secure Lewis Hall from Newcastle, and then suffering an injury to Luke Shaw, while Patryck has increasingly been used as a left winger rather than a full-back.
According to Pete O'Rourke, a journalist at Football Insider, the English club is considering signing Wesley, who joined AS Roma from Flamengo in the summer of 2025 and has made eight international appearances for Brazil.
Despite joining AS Roma to play as a right-back, Wesley has participated in more matches on the left side, making him a potential option for Manchester United.
O'Rourke pointed out that Arsenal and Newcastle are also interested in the player, while AS Roma is expected to ask for around £50 million for his departure.
