Brentford have announced their cooperation with the police to investigate a serious incident that occurred during their match against Liverpool last Saturday, after footage emerged showing a rugby ball being kicked from the roof of a building in West London towards the Gtech Community Stadium, hitting its roof while the match was ongoing.

The club condemned the incident in an official statement released on Monday, emphasizing that the incident poses a significant danger and could cause serious damage. They noted that the case has been referred to the police and that they are providing support to the relevant authorities to identify those responsible and take necessary action against them, which could include criminal prosecution.

Brentford stated: "Brentford Football Club is aware of an incident involving an object being thrown from height onto the pitch during Saturday's match against Liverpool."

He added: "This behavior is dangerous and could cause serious harm. The matter has been referred to the police, and the club supports the relevant authorities in their investigations to help identify those responsible and take appropriate action, which may include criminal prosecution."

The club emphasized that the safety of fans, staff, players, and referees is a top priority, confirming its support for all efforts aimed at ensuring that necessary measures are taken.

A video has surfaced showing a person kicking a ball from the roof of a building towards the pitch, before it bounces off the roof. Other footage shows a staff member carrying the ball along the touchline after retrieving it, while play continues.

The incident occurred around Brentford's stadium, which is part of a redevelopment project in the surrounding area, surrounded by modern residential and commercial buildings.

The match featured thrilling events, as Brentford took the lead with a goal from Keane Lewis-Potter, before Yehor Yarmolyuk was sent off in stoppage time of the first half. Víctor Muñoz equalised for Liverpool in the 62nd minute, then Alexander Isak scored the winning goal, while Brentford finished the match with nine players after Vitaly Janelt was sent off for a second yellow card in the closing minutes.
