Eiraola: Araujo is an ambitious player, and this is the situation with Szoboszlai and Frimpong
Andoni Iraola, Liverpool's head coach, discussed several issues regarding his team ahead of their Champions League clash with Villarreal, addressing player injuries, the form of Florian Wirtz, and Ronald Araujo's adaptation.
Iraola commented on Dominik Szoboszlai's injury: "It's not a new injury, and it hasn't worsened; his condition is almost the same as it was last week, but we need to be patient until he fully recovers."
He added: "That doesn't mean he will need to wait a long time to return, but we have to give him more time. I appreciate the effort he made to be available for the last match and his desire to help the team despite the difficulty and physical strength of the encounter."
Regarding Jeremy Frimpong's condition, he explained: "It's a new injury, and I expect him to be out until after the next international break."
Liverpool's manager praised Ronald Araujo's adaptation, saying: "Araujo was the type of signing that probably wasn't available before the transfer market, we spoke with the player, and our first conversation with him was very encouraging."
He added: "He is an ambitious and experienced player, has played at a big club and wants to prove his level. I asked him directly if we needed to involve him at right-back, and he was ready for anything."
He continued: "He has shown his readiness to help the team, and the more he participates, speaks the language, and learns from his teammates, the more we benefit from his experience; everything about him has been extremely positive."
Iraola spoke about Florian Wirtz's development, saying: "He has had two very good matches and played wonderfully against LASK away from home, helping the team a lot both in possession and out of it."
He added: "I hope we can maintain this level; we analyze everything and scrutinize it a lot, but when a player performs well, it is fair to point that out as well."
Regarding his selections ahead of the match against Villarreal, he said: "I am thinking about choosing the best possible lineup, but it may not be the lineup you expect, as some players are not in the best physical condition, and it might be better to involve a player who is more ready."
He added: "We have a busy schedule until the next international break, and we have to take each game as it comes, focusing on the recovery of the players. It is important that every player starting tomorrow's match is 100% ready."
Liverpool's manager spoke about the benefits of the early matches with the team, saying: "We learn during this process and adapt to the circumstances, we have to learn every day and improve, especially to continue developing."
He added: "When you are forced, under pressure, to bring in a player in a position he has never played in, or to deal with a difficult result, it gives us greater knowledge of each other; these situations reveal the character of the players."
Regarding Liverpool's results at home, he said: "It's true that our results away from home have been better than our results at home, but we are still at the beginning, and we have played difficult matches."
He added: "If you ask me, I prefer playing at home 100%, but the requirements of matches vary a lot, and we have to deal with each match individually. I know Villarreal well, and if we want to win, we have to deliver a performance similar to what we showed against Atlético at our stadium."
