Sari hits out at refereeing after Atalanta loss to AC Milan
Italian manager Maurício Sarri of Atalanta expressed his frustration with some refereeing decisions after his team's 3-2 defeat to AC Milan in the match held on Sunday evening at San Siro, as part of the seventh round of Serie A.
Sari, in his remarks to Sky Sports, said that his team faced difficulties during the first half due to weak pressing, despite having the first clear chance to score through Nikola Krstović. He pointed out his belief that there were handball situations that should have been dealt with differently by the referee and the video technology.
Atalanta's coach added that he was surprised to see a player allowed to direct abusive language at the referee without being sent off. He explained that he inquired about the incident with the referee during the break and expressed his discontent with the way the match was officiated, confirming his dissatisfaction with the refereeing decisions.
Sarri concluded his statements by expressing his regret over his team's exit without points, especially as Atalanta had a chance to equalise at 3-3 before the end of the match, after they managed to reduce the deficit with two goals, but they were unable to exploit the final minutes to snatch a point from AC Milan.
