Blanés reveals details of Pedri's signing to Barcelona and talks about his experience with Ittihad

Ramon Planes, advisor to Al Ittihad, recalled significant moments from his professional career, discussing his experience in Saudi Arabia and life in Jeddah, alongside details of the contract with Spanish player Pedri during his time at FC Barcelona.

In a Spanish podcast appearance, Blanes described his nearly three years in Saudi Arabia as a rich experience that allowed him to learn about a different culture and gain new experiences both personally and professionally.

He explained that the transition to a different environment than what he was used to in Spain requires openness to others and an understanding of different ways of thinking, noting that the experience in Saudi Arabia has broadened his perspective on life and work.

The federation advisor expressed his admiration for the city of Jeddah, where he lived during his time in Saudi Arabia, praising its coastal location and sea views, as well as the nature of its residents and their warmth and hospitality.

Blanés discussed the transfer of Pedri, who joined FC Barcelona from UD Las Palmas in 2019 for around five million euros, when he was 16 years old, before becoming one of the team's standout stars.

The deal has faced questions due to the amount paid for a young player who has not had many opportunities in the Spanish second division, which has led some parties within the club to view the decision as a risk.

Blanés has confirmed that the reservations did not come directly from the FC Barcelona management, but were expressed by other individuals within the club. He clarified that he remains convinced of the player's abilities and future potential despite the criticisms.

It was pointed out that Barcelona's reliance on promoting talents from their academy, especially in midfield, has contributed to the controversy surrounding the signing of a player from outside the system, but subsequent results have changed the perspective on the deal.

Blanés concluded his remarks by pointing out that decisions regarding young talents may seem risky at first, but the subsequent success of the player reveals the value of the gamble, as was the case with Pedri, who has become a key figure at FC Barcelona and one of the standout talents in Spanish football.
