Allegri before facing Venezia: we need to improve and manage matches better
Massimiliano Allegri, the head coach of SSC Napoli, has confirmed the necessity for his team to enhance their performance and deal better with tough moments during matches. This statement was made during the press conference preceding the match against Venezia, scheduled for tomorrow as part of the Serie A.
Allegri spoke about the possibility of Luka starting, stating he will make his decision after the final training session, given Rasmus Højlund's need for rest due to his frequent appearances. He also defended Luka, saying: "I think he has been subjected to excessive criticism; sometimes certain players become targets for criticism, but he always enters the pitch with the right mentality, despite the mistakes he has made."
Regarding SSC Napoli's inconsistent performance, the Italian coach stressed the importance of dealing with mistakes calmly and not allowing them to change the course of the match, adding: "I am not worried, but we need to find solutions to the problems. A strong team must know how to manage difficult moments and cannot crumble when things go against expectations. We need to manage the ball better and improve our mental and tactical balance."
Regarding his relationship with Kevin De Bruyne, Massimiliano Allegri has denied any disagreement with the player, explaining that what happened was merely a misunderstanding due to language differences, and confirming that the matter ended there.
The coach expressed his satisfaction with the recovery of Marianucci and Biukima, while he lamented the injury of David Neres.
Allegri concluded his remarks by stressing the need to respect Venezia and not underestimate their capabilities, pointing out that the opponent has good players and creates many chances, despite their recent results.
SSC Napoli will approach the match with the aim of winning, while maintaining humility and focus. He emphasized that the defensive errors that led to conceding goals against Villarreal should serve as motivation for improvement and correcting the course.
