Report: Bayern Munich faces a reality check after recent setbacks
Concerns are rising within Bayern Munich after the team drew 2-2 against Augsburg in the Bundesliga and 3-3 against Viking in the Champions League. According to the German newspaper "Bild", the recent results have brought to light several issues that require urgent intervention from coach Vincent Kompany and the club's management.
1- Individual errors and early goals:
Bayern Munich are facing growing concerns over repeated individual errors, having conceded a goal just eight seconds into their match against Augsburg due to a mistake from Manuel Neuer. The team then conceded again against Viking in the 2nd minute, following an unnecessary corner caused by Min-jae Kim. Club officials believe that the recurrence of these errors reflects a concentration problem that cannot be ignored.
Oles's actions increase the pressure.
The problems were not limited to the technical aspects, as Michael Olise caused a crisis by throwing the ball at an opposing player, resulting in a second yellow card and his dismissal. Kompany strongly criticized the player's actions, while sporting director Max Eberl clarified that the decision to impose a fine on him will be determined later. The incident highlights the importance of self-control and avoiding actions that harm the team.
3- An attack relying on Olyse and Harry Kane:
Bayern Munich are struggling with imbalance in their attacking line, with Oles and Harry Kane being the most prominent performers. Meanwhile, Jamal Musiala is sidelined due to injury, and Serge Gnabry has not yet regained his best form. Additionally, Luis Díaz has seen a decline in his performance compared to last season.
4 - Lack of effectiveness from substitutes:
Some players have not met the expected level when given opportunities, such as Lennart Karl, Ismael Saibari, and Tom Bechthold, while Min-jae Kim and Nathaniel Brown faced difficulties. The issue lies in the inability of some available options to provide the necessary contribution or to compensate for the key players at the same level, which limits Kompany's ability to rotate his squad without affecting the team's performance.
The international break disrupts preparations.
The international break, during which 18 players were absent from the team, has affected the rhythm of training and preparations for matches. Uli Hoeneß criticized the break after just four weeks since the start of the Bundesliga, describing the situation as catastrophic, given the difficulty of maintaining harmony when most players are away from collective training.
These issues reflect intertwined challenges related to focus, individual errors, attacking balance, and the effectiveness of substitutes, along with the impact of the international break.
