Yassine Bounou regains his continental shine with Al-Hilal
Yassine Bounou, the goalkeeper for Al-Hilal, has regained his ability to keep a clean sheet in the AFC Champions League after ending a streak of seven consecutive matches in which he conceded goals.
The return came during the match against Al Sadd on Tuesday, in the second round of the western group, where the goalkeeper managed to keep a clean sheet, contributing to Al-Hilal's victory with two goals.
Yassine Bounou last appeared in a continental match with a clean sheet against South Korea's Gwangju in the quarter-finals of the 2024-2025 edition, when Al-Hilal won 7-0 on April 25, 2025.
After that match, Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou has conceded goals in seven consecutive encounters, starting against Al Ahly FC in the semi-finals, then continuing against Al-Duhail SC, Al-Sadd, Al-Gharafa, and Nasaf Qarshi, before facing Al-Sadd again in a later semi-final.
The streak continued during the match against Al-Gharafa in the opening of the current edition of the tournament, before Yassine Bounou succeeded in stopping it against Al-Sadd, regaining a clean sheet at an important stage of Al-Hilal's continental journey.
