The match witnessed dramatic twists and a numerical disadvantage for the Green Violin, who ultimately succeeded in snatching three valuable points that placed them at the top of Group A.
The first half began with Al-Shorta imposing their tactical style through complete possession and precise ball movement between the lines, but East Bengal surprised the guests and scored an early goal in the 8th minute through player David Lalhlansanga.
Al-Shorta were not affected by this early goal, as they continued to apply pressure and managed to equalize quickly in the 15th minute through player Ahmed Yahya. The green team then continued to dominate possession and create clear chances, some of which were missed due to a lack of luck.
Against the run of play, the Indian club surprised the police again, as David Lalhlansanga scored his team's second goal in the 40th minute, capitalizing on a mistake by goalkeeper Jalal Hassan, ending the first half with the home side in the lead.

In the 76th minute, there was a critical turning point in the match, as Al-Shorta's Abdulmajid Abu Bakr received a red card after picking up his second yellow card, leaving the team to play the remaining minutes with a numerical disadvantage.
After Aboubakar's red card, the Indian club applied intense attacking pressure and completely surrounded the police areas, taking advantage of their numerical superiority. However, the Lyre Brigade defended valiantly and did not concede the result, finishing the battle with a hard-fought and valuable victory.
