Omar Marmoush fined after luxury car violation
Egyptian star Omar Marmoush, Tottenham Hotspur striker, has found himself in British court after being fined for driving an uninsured McLaren. It was discovered that his supercar was not insured, and he failed to report that it was taken off the road, meaning it was not being used on public roads.
According to the BBC, the 27-year-old player, who joined Tottenham on loan from Manchester City in August, was convicted at the Teesside Magistrates' Court on October 5. The court fined him £220, in addition to £100 in court costs and £88 in additional fees for the victims' support fund.
The legal action came following a move by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) after Omar Marmoush failed to pay a fixed penalty that had previously been imposed on him in June.
Court documents reveal that the first fine was issued to the player on June 17, after officials discovered that his "McLaren 720S," valued at around £250,000, was uninsured and had not been reported as taken out of service. The agency had attempted to contact the player at his apartment in central Manchester, where he was staying before moving to London.
The case was considered under 'the individual judge procedure', which is a system that allows judges to decide on specific criminal cases behind closed doors without holding a traditional hearing. Omar Marmoush did not provide any response or defense regarding the documents sent to him by the agency.
Omar Marmoush's transfer from Manchester City to Tottenham, announced in late August, includes a clause obliging the club to buy him for £60 million at the end of the season. The player was part of Egypt's squad for the FIFA World Cup this summer and has scored 10 goals with Manchester City since joining in January 2025.
